Maricel’s Street Photography – Worthing’s Beauty

print

Maricel is a street photographer in Worthing, here she explains why she enjoys photographing in this way…

Worthing means beauty, I’m not talking about the beauty you see on the magazines. This is un-retouched beauty! And it’s to do with the fact we live by the sea. Here no one rushes, there is time to do things at your own pace.

I always walk with my camera, the lens helps me to see the town in different angles, and passers-by will give me a welcoming smile. This is a holiday resort, so people are used to cameras.

Marine Gardens is a great spot to take pictures or Wednesday’s Market is the place to meet locals. Random picnics on the beach or a taste of crafted cider at the micro pubs are a must do here.

I walk on random streets, Victorian houses blend together with modern buildings. Hidden corners or a narrow passage make huge contrasts. Plus, Worthing is a place of contrasts; the modern versus the traditional, the sea in the South versus the green fields in the North, a place to rest for some and a place for heavy training for others.

At the golden hours the town looks still. The sky turns orange. I’m never tired of searching for unexpected views. Worthing is full of surprises.
